Remembrance by Krad-Eelav Remembrance by Krad-Eelav
Started out as a sketch request for the epic folks over at doodle_emblem on LJ, but uh, got carried away as usual. [Not my fault, I thought it turned out rather well.]

Thought of showing a different side of Nephenee, as she's always happy, or just curious about a life aside from her village. This one ... she's gone through hell and beyond, lost some dear friends [maybe Brom or Zihark or Calil?], and is struggling to come to terms with why she fights.

It's kind of a different look to Fire Emblem when you start remembering that every character that dies - whether it be your own, or the enemy - has a brother, a friend, a mother or a lover, and that they're people with their lives.

Sobering.

Flowers at the bottom are red poppies - used in the UK's Remembrance Day, and -I've heard- in a few other countries as well.

On a different note - Can you find all 8 stat-up items in the flowers? [ Energy Drop, Seraph Robe, Spirit Dust, Secret Book, Ashera Icon, Dracoshield + Talisman?]

The 60 poppies also represent the 60 charries you get in PoR.

Time: 10-ish hours.
Programs: SAI and CS5
Music: Arditi - Day of Infamy [link]

This is a beautiful picture and I love seeing this aspect of the games touched upon, even if it's not given all that much consideration in the script. I'm totally with you on the point about enemy characters too, especially since most of them are swept up in the dealings of one crazy ruler or another.

It's all those really happy characters I wonder about the most. You know something's eating at them inside. I mean come on, they're at war. (Especially with Nephenee. That girl is unstoppable and can take out an entire battle on her own.)

This depicts that beautifully. You can tell there's something going on in her mind.

Yeah; it started nagging at me after I finished reading some military-fiction books Karen Traviss - she writes for Star Wars + Gears of War. Fantastic stuff. . Even battling for a good cause like with Ike, it'd be rough on anyone to go through that. ;A;

Oh - did you know on the level with Jill's dad, some of the wyvern riders will actually briefly talk with Jill? Wondering why she defected and all of that. I thought it was such an interesting touch...

No kidding? I'll have to actually use Jill next time I get to that chapter.

Jill is literally a tank in PoR (like Haar is in RD, except even better somehow) - she capped/surpassed pretty much all of the good stats against ike! (HP/Str/almost tied with speed/def). And she's actually really good to field in that particular battle, as long as you don't fight against her dad. :A; Somebody needs to draw a fanart of those two...

I'm loving the thing with the flowers, 60 for the number of PoR units, and the hidden stat up items.

I shall now drag crazy OCs into this.

Cerai: Mehgah. I just try not to think about that...besides, bandits and pirates are generally worthless scumbags that deserve to die. Don't even get me started on ferals. You feel sorry for them, yeah, but at the time, you have to fight back or else you'll get ripped to shreds and then you'll die...

Yeah...anyway awesome and powerful piece. It really makes you stop and think.

I don't see too many people do little fun things like this anymore. The symbolism and little extra items in the flowers were fun!
